  2. Avancia Cuvee de O Godello Valdeorras 2015

Avancia Cuvee de O Godello Valdeorras 2015

90 points Wine Advocate - The 2015 Avancia Cuvee De O Godello is aged in 500- to 600-liter demi muids and after a portion is fermented in oak (with a small portion fermented in neutral oak and the rest in stainless steel), the wine spends eight months sur lie with 80% aging in stainless steel and the rest in oak. The 2015 is a beauty – with notes of honeysuckle, delicate flowers, crisp, honeyed citrus such as lemons, impressive minerality, a medium body and long finish. It is dry and pure. This is a beauty to drink over the next year or so, although I suspect it may last longer. Learn More

  3. Bodegas Botani Moscatel Seco, Sierras de Malaga 2014

Bodegas Botani Moscatel Seco, Sierras de Malaga 2014

90 points Wine Avocate - "The Ordoñez family, Jorge and his sister Victoria, were the first to try and produce a dry, crisp wine from 100% Muscatel de Alexandria in Malaga. This area is known for historic, sweet wines, with ancient history stretching back to 600 B.C. for viticulture. These steep, almost unreal hillside vineyards are planted in decomposed red slate, with a mixture of white quartz. They are complex soils, but the Botani has turned out to be an incredible success story and a great value. The 2014 Botani is light-bodied, shows flowery, fragrant notes with hints of flint, wet stones, plenty of perfumed citrus, orange blossom, tangerine oil and caramelized lemons. Almost all of this is aged in stainless steel, with about one-fifth in older wood, but this spent seven months on its lees prior to bottling. The 2014 is a beautiful wine, as it has been in the past, a dry Muscat that is a killer aperitif or a refreshing white wine. Drink it over the next year."

90 points Vinous - "Vivid straw. Sexy, expansive aromas of fresh citrus fruits, honeydew, peach, pungent flowers and an urgent gingery note. The sappy, seamless palate offers intense pit fruit, melon flavors and a jolt of orange zest on the back half. Emphatically fruity and nervy, with strong finishing thrust and repeating floral and citrus fruit qualities. I'd drink this extroverted wine soon." Learn More

  6. Bodegas Forjas del Salnes Leirana Albarino, Rias Baixas 2015

Bodegas Forjas del Salnes Leirana Albarino, Rias Baixas 2015

92 points Wine Advocate - I tasted two vintages of the entry-level Albariño, starting with the 2015 Leirana, which is sourced from different villages of the Salnés Valley. They harvested early because it had rained and the forecast was for more rain and risk of botrytis. The result is very low alcohol and pH. Some time in bottle has polished it, and it's now quite approachable, gentler and very mineral. It's super tasty, with a salty finish. This is a bit of a wild vintage of Leirana, in line with the 2013. 30,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2016.

92 points VinousPale, green-tinged yellow. Bright and sharply focused on the nose, displaying incisive Meyer lemon, honeysuckle, quinine and mineral scents, along with a hint of ginger in the background. Dry, taut and light on its feet, offering intense, mineral-laced citrus and orchard fruit flavors that show no excess weight. Closes on a spicy note, displaying strong, floral-tinged persistence. 8. Hacienda El Ternero Blanco Fermentado en Barrica, Rioja DOCa 2015

Hacienda El Ternero Blanco Fermentado en Barrica, Rioja DOCa 2015

From an interesting micro-climate in Rioja perched at 650 meters height with warm, sunny, days and nights chilled by cold air flowing down the Obarenes mountains. The white grape Viura does very well here, especially with barrel fermentation. Vibrant green apple and peach aromas and flavors are lifted by a touch of lemon/lime. The French oak is nicely gauged, rounding the texture and adding just a hint of vanilla and spice to the tangy fruit finish. Lovely seafood wine here, or try with fresh vegetables. Learn More

Catalan Eagle white is 70% Garnacha Blanca, 20% Viognier and 10% Roussanne, the two latter grape varieties originally coming from the Rhone. Cool fermented in stainless steel, the result is an aromatic, peachy white wine with refreshing acidity and a rich texture. The wine is perfect now and will also age well for at least 2 years.
