  1. Amalaya Malbec Blend 2014

    Amalaya Malbec Blend 2014

90 points Wine Advocate - The entry-level red for Amalaya changed its name with the 2014 vintage and is now called 2014 Malbec, even if it still has some 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Syrah in the blend. Since it has 85% of Malbec it can be bottled as a varietal wine. From this vintage the wine is only produced with estate grapes, whereas in the past some were purchased. Tasting it next to the 2013 I felt a big jump in quality. The vintage was also very good for Malbec in Salta. It's very spicy, possibly from the Syrah and there are also some herbal aromas for the Cabernet, cracked peppercorns, some olives and balsamic aromas, with more depth. I feel the Syrah quite a lot here, both in the nose and in the palate where it added smoked bacon and mineral earthy notes. It also has more structure and clout than the 2013. A big step up in quality for this wine. Learn More
  2. Amalaya Malbec Blend 2015

    Amalaya Malbec Blend 2015

91 points Wine Advocate - "The entry-level wine is called 2015 Malbec, even if it still has some 10% Tannat and 5% Syrah in the blend. 2015 saw 140 liters of rain, healthy grapes and good levels of acidity. The grapes come from seven-year-old vines that yielded 9,000 kilos per hectare, 100% from estate grapes. The grapes fermented with neutral yeasts after a four-day cold soak with a total maceration of some 20 days. 25% of the volume matured in used French oak barrels for ten months, while the rest was kept in stainless steel with fine lees. There is a smoky character that I believe comes from the skin of the grapes, which have a high impact from the sun—as with the higher altitude, the rays are much stronger and make grapes develop thicker skins. It made me think of a red from the Northern Rhône, mixing violets, bacon fat and great spiciness. They have replaced Cabernet by Tannat, and I think it has helped remove the herbal aromas and given more character to the blend. The palate is medium-bodied with great freshness and intensity, terribly tasty. This is so easy to drink, it can be dangerous... One to buy by the case, and great for by-the-glass. 695,000 bottles produced." -Luis Gutierrez, Dec 2016 Learn More
  3. Amalie Robert Heirloom Cameo Chardonnay, Willamette Valley 2012

Amalie Robert Heirloom Cameo Chardonnay, Willamette Valley 2012

92 points Wine Enthusiast - Scintillating aromas of Meyer lemon zest, purple passion fruit and carambola sheathed in a suggestion of five spice and pheromone provide intrigue. The deftly balanced palate is silky chiffon with latent acidity providing a gentle lift, all the while the effortlessly evolving textures and aromas vex. The enduring finish echoes the virtue of presence without weight. Learn More
  4. Amalie Robert Her Silhouette Chardonnay, Willamette Valley 2014

Amalie Robert Her Silhouette Chardonnay, Willamette Valley 2014

Her Silhouette reveals Estate grown Chardonnay in its purest form. We strive to capture the essence of Chardonnay exposed at first light. The wine was slow fermented in stainless steel at cool temperatures to retain the inherent vibrancy of Chardonnay. This wine did not undergo malo-lactic fermentation and retains the natural acidity and provides a disciplined finish. The combination of Estate grown Dijon Clone fruit from sedimentary soils, stewarded with very little wine making intervention results in unrelenting aromas and flavors. This is an Oregon Chardonnay that exemplifies the true character of the vineyard, vintage and the variety. The Chardonnay for this wine is grown in 2 small blocks. The blend is about equal parts Dijon clone 76 and 95. These blocks were hand harvested on November 7th and thanks to a cold cellar, completed primary fermentation the following spring. Learn More

  6. Ammunition Badgerhound Zinfandel, Sonoma County 2015

Ammunition Badgerhound Zinfandel, Sonoma County 2015

We set out to make a Zinfandel as tenacious as the Badgerhound. It was originally created as a pet project, but it has quickly gained a cult following in select markets nationwide. One pour, and you’ll see why. The 2015 vintage presents appealing aromas of crushed raspberries and blackberries are framed by vanilla and cigar box notes. This wine shows sweet concentrated fruit in the mouth with plenty of oak, tannins and acidity to balance the ripeness. The finish is long, rich and intense. This 2015 vintage should age well for the next 5 years. Pairs great with barbecue dishes such as St. Louis-style ribs, Memphis pulled-pork and Texas-style brisket. Learn More
