Details
90 points Wine Specator - Our 2010 Cabernet is made from a historic single vineyard atop Diamond Mountain in northern Napa Valley. The higher elevation of this vineyard results in less cool fog coming in from San Pablo Bay and more direct exposure to sunlight. The vineyard is over 30 years old and consequently does not produce a high volume of fruit; instead the lower yielding vines produce much more concentrated, powerful intense fruit, exactly what you need for a great cabernet.
The grapes were hand-harvested in the middle of October, de-stemmed and transferred to closed-top fermenters, where the skins and juice remained in contact for an extended maceration. The juice was then pressed off and moved directly to Taransaud French oak barrels, 75% of which were new, and aged for 21 months.
