Cain Vineyard & Winery Cain Cuvee, Napa Valley 2013

The Cain Cuvée is our most creative endeavor. It's about the style of Cain and our vision of what classical red wine can be. Drawing from specific vineyards, both mountain and valley, as well as two harvests, we strive to compose a wine of aromatic complexity that is truly silky and sits lightly and refreshingly on the palate. If we have succeeded, the wine will dance on your tongue! Learn More

  2. Cain Vineyard & Winery Concept The Benchland, Napa Valley 2008

Cain Vineyard & Winery Concept The Benchland, Napa Valley 2008

The core of our Cain Concept - The Benchland is about Cabernet Sauvignon from the classical "benchlands" of the Napa Valley. But, on its own the Cabernet can be a bit simple, so, in the "Cain Way," we have blended judicious quantities of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot with Cabernet Sauvignon to build complexity, to add nuance, to articulate the structure, and to add length to the finish of the wine. The Franc gives a bit of lift to the nose, and the Merlot gives a bit of fat to the entry and mid-palate, while the Verdot adds spice and backbone to the blend. This Cain Concept is round, smooth, seamless, and satisfying. Learn More

  4. Clos du Bois Briarcrest Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Clos du Bois Briarcrest Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Briarcrest is bottled 100% Cabernet Sauvignon – a rather rare find, as Cabernet is nearly always blended with other varietals. Alexander Valley is one of the few regions that can successfully produce a 100% Cabernet wine, because of the characteristic lush fruity character and soft, round, supple tannins of the Cab grown here. A richly textured, smooth wine, Briarcrest offers thick blackberry, dark cherry and cassis flavors, harmonized with toasty oak, cedar, tobacco and chocolate aromas. Briarcrest is intense, big and fruity in its youth and can be bottle-aged up to 15 years, developing added smoothness and rich complexity. Learn More

  5. Clos du Bois Marlstone, Alexander Valley 2012

Clos du Bois Marlstone, Alexander Valley 2012

This wine has inky black color with a ruby red hue, complex aromas of blackberry, black current, mocha, roasted oak, and graphite. In the mouth, dense blackberry with a lush and silky texture and chewy tannins. *Winemaker’s notes Learn More

  6. Coho C2 Red, Napa Valley 2012

Coho C2 Red, Napa Valley 2012

The 2012 Proprietary Red Blend Headwaters (2,432 cases) is a juicy, dark-fruited effort with good purity and ripeness, but little complexity. It offers good fruit and body, but lacks that extra nuance and character that makes the taster want to have a second glass. Nevertheless, I like what’s there. Learn More

  7. Conundrum Red by Caymus, California 2016

Conundrum Red by Caymus, California 2016

Winemaker notes:”We believe in being both serious and playful, and this wine fits the bill. A rich, dark red, it offers aromas of ripe berries and plums, warmed by a hint of cocoa. Dried fruit and the taste of chocolate-covered cherries come through on the palate, while a wisp of smokiness makes this wine – created from dark red varietals including Zinfandel and Petite Sirah – the perfect complement to grilled meats and full-flavored dishes. Tannins are rounded out by the ripeness of the berries for a texturous but smooth mouth feel. The finish makes us think of lingering at the end of a long evening and still not wanting to go home, with layers of rich flavor that teasingly trail off. Learn More
